The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971)

Enjoyed another classic horror film.  Tonight it was The Abominable Dr. Phibes.  A classic Vincent Price horror-comedy film along with Joesph Cotton and the lovely Virginia North in her last movie role.  It was a great film.  A few weak moments like when you could see the wires holding up the flying bat and the too pale blood.  But loved it all the same.

Dr. Phibes was always one step ahead of everyone.  And the bad guy gets away with everything.  His choice of ways to murder were ingenious.  I must point out the catapulted unicorn head was particularly funny.  Or more to the point.  The police officers turning the body end over to end to "unscrew" the victim was hilarious.

Virgina North's silent character was a creepy but sexy counterpoint to the sinister and monsterous Dr. Phibes.  I feel her ending was not deserved for the support she gave to the Doctor.  And you could tell she was being setup for the fall if the acid had not killed her.
